Cliffstar’s Sustainability Project In the recent months of tumultuous energy costs, we have all become personally aware of the negative impact these fluctuations have had on our business, economy and our homes. These impacts are prevalent, not only in the cost of energy to run our plants, but what it is costing to run our cars or heat our homes; putting food on the table. This wave of influence is dominant in nearly every commodity we need daily in our professional and personal lives. Within the complex layers of what we are faced with, a very simple question presents itself: What can we do? Believe it or not, the answer is also simple: We must become stewards of our environment and become more conscientious of the water we use, energy we consume and waste we generate. As individuals, we can all impact our resources in some way. But if we stand and work together, we can and will become a leading force in environmental sustainability. Cliffstar Corporation’s environmental commitment is focusing on the areas where we have the most substantial and clear opportunities -- water stewardship, energy and climate protection, and reducing our waste. There are examples we can identify of advancements we have made in each of these areas, but we recognize that there is much more to be done. Cliffstar is in the center of a vital project, preparing a long-range plan that will be the groundwork in our efforts to meet this commitment. This project will encompass establishing an across-the-board assessment of our current level of performance to be used as a foundation that we will then examine our long-term improvement against. As part of the Cliffstar Environmental Sustainability initiative, we looked for participation from each and every one of Cliffstar’s Associates. We asked for innovative assessments within all areas and departments of the company. We searched for creativeness in offering design or process solutions that will improve our systems and allow us to be more environmentally conscious. The results of the internal research that was conducted is now the basis of Cliffstar's ongoing Continuous Improvement initiative operating within the core values of sustainability. As we continue in this ongoing project, we will be reviewing all of our business practices and rewriting them as necessary to be the most effective as possible. Paul Harder CEO
